Therapy management: the clinical work that keeps you on therapy, safely.
Specialty medications work best when someone is watching — monitoring for side effects, coordinating lab work, tracking adherence, adjusting for life changes, and communicating with your prescribing physician. At TheraVite, that someone is a PharmD who knows you by name.
What is therapy management?
Specialty medications — biologics, injectables, oral targeted therapies, and infusion drugs — are powerful, complex, and expensive. They can change your life for the better. They can also cause side effects, interact with other medications, require careful timing, and lose effectiveness if not taken correctly.
Therapy management is the clinical service that sits alongside dispensing and administration. It is the ongoing pharmacist-led attention that catches problems early, keeps you comfortable, and helps you stay on the therapy that’s working for you — instead of giving up on it because of side effects, cost, or complexity.
What our therapy management includes
Clinical review before every fill
Every prescription and every refill is reviewed by a pharmacist for clinical appropriateness, drug interactions, dose accuracy, and any changes in your health status. If something looks off, we call you and your prescribing physician before dispensing.
Side effect monitoring and management
Specialty medications can cause everything from mild reactions to serious ones. Our pharmacists know the specific side effect profile of your therapy and check in with you at meaningful intervals — not with generic surveys, but with real conversations. When something comes up, we help you decide whether it’s something to manage at home, something to bring up with your doctor, or something that needs immediate attention.
Adherence support
Missed doses, late refills, and premature refills all tell a story — and it’s usually one worth understanding. We track your fill patterns, ask thoughtful questions when something changes, and help you build sustainable habits around your therapy. Reminders when they help. Investigation when they don’t.
Lab and monitoring coordination
Many specialty therapies require routine lab work — TB screening for biologics, complete blood counts for certain MS therapies, liver function for JAK inhibitors, and many more. We track when your labs are due, remind your prescribing office, and follow up on results so nothing falls through the cracks.
Injection and administration training
For self-injected therapies, our pharmacists and nurses provide one-on-one training — not just once, but as often as you need it. We walk you through the first dose, answer every question about technique and site rotation, and stay available when something new comes up.
Dose optimization coordination
If your therapy is not working as well as expected, or if you’re having tolerability issues, we coordinate with your prescribing physician on dose adjustments, timing changes, or therapy switches. We are your advocate in these conversations — not a passive dispenser.
Ongoing communication with your prescriber
Your prescribing physician receives standardized updates from us: intake summary, first-treatment confirmation, quarterly therapy review, and immediate escalation for adverse events. You are never the one carrying information between your pharmacy and your doctor.
Life-change adjustments
Insurance changes. Travel. Pregnancy. A new job. A surgery. A hospitalization. Any of these can affect how, when, or whether you take your therapy. Our team helps you plan around life — not the other way around.
Who benefits from therapy management
Anyone on a specialty medication benefits from active therapy management, but it makes the biggest difference for patients:
- Newly starting a biologic or specialty therapy — when getting the first weeks right shapes the entire course of treatment
- On multiple specialty medications — where interactions and timing require ongoing attention
- With chronic conditions requiring lifelong therapy — where adherence over years determines outcomes
- Managing complex or rare diseases — where general pharmacy support may not be enough
- With prior tolerability or adherence issues — where a fresh clinical eye can identify what to change
- Transitioning between therapies — where coordination between old and new can prevent lapses
What makes ours different
Every specialty pharmacy claims to offer therapy management. The differences are in the delivery:
- PharmD-led, not technician-led — the person managing your therapy is a doctor of pharmacy, not a call-center representative reading from a script
- Consistent care team, not a rotating queue — the pharmacist who knows your therapy is the same pharmacist you talk to next time you call
- Proactive, not reactive — we reach out at meaningful clinical points, we don’t wait for you to have a problem
- Physician-connected, not siloed — our updates to your prescriber’s office are standardized, predictable, and clinically substantive
- Integrated with your infusion care — whether you receive therapy at our infusion suite, self-inject at home, or both, the same care team manages the whole picture
